Winning Mega Millions ticket sold on LI, winner still a mystery

Santa worked overtime this year for one lucky Long Island lotto winner.

A Middle Island King Kullen sold a Mega Millions ticket worth a whopping $206 million Tuesday morning but the newly loaded winner has yet to come forward, lottery officials said today.

The unidentified winner scored the mammoth windfall by selecting 22, 32, 33, 39 and 43 as well as the "Mega Ball" of 8.

King Kullen staffer Lisa Korpie said employees are abuzz about the mysterious winner and are hoping they come forward soon. 'We have a lot of regulars who buy their tickets here," she said. "Everyone is excited to see who it is, maybe it's someone we know."

Korpie said that the location has been lucky before with an elderly customer who scored a $1 million scratch off winner in December of 2009.

Employees at the store organize a weekly lottery pool and scored a $7 winner Tuesday. "We''re not sure how we're going to divide it up yet," Korpie said with a laugh.

A trio of other New Yorkers also nailed six figure winners Tuesday with each scoring $250,000 payouts.

Lottery officials said that Tuesday's winner is the largest triumph in Suffolk County history and that the Mega Millions drawing will now be reset to $12 million.
