Forecast: Rain today, and a chance of rain for New Year's Eve

GRAND RAPIDS -- Any snowfall today will hit the ground as slushy snow mixed with rain. But that's all set to change this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

An arctic cold front will pass through West Michigan late Saturday night, bringing much colder air and a return to winter weather. Expect wind from Sunday morning through Monday. Wind chill temperatures will be in the teens and single digits Sunday night into Monday.

Lake effect snowfall also will ramp up Sunday afternoon and continue through Tuesday. The heaviest snow is expected to fall Sunday night and Monday. Combined with winds, visibility will be limited.
