Instagram Adds Web-Based Functionality | Complex

Instagram is a true mobile phenomenon— from creation to billion-dollar acquisition, the app and its growing ecosystem have existed entirely on mobile phones. But now that it's got Facebook's money and resources at its disposable, it makes sense that the app would spread its wings a little bit. As pointed out by Gizmodo, a recent update now allows users to like and comment on photos posted to Instagram right from a browser. Previously, links to Instagram photos on the Web were view-only.

The new browser-based functionality could either be a minor, isolated nod to the Web, or it could be a sign that Instagram is finally headed toward a real presence online. With Facebook at its back, anything is possible.
