DENVER — The scorching heat will keep its grip on metro Denver and the rest of Colorado Tuesday.

Meteorologist Nick Carter predicts Denver will see a high temperature of 105 degrees. It will be the fifth day in a row of temps 100 degrees or above.

It comes on the heels of Monday's record high of 105 degrees. It was the hottest day in June in Denver and it tied the record for the hottest day in Denver ever recorded. The incredible record could happen for the second day in a row.

The MIle High City saw temperatures of 105 degrees only twice before Monday: July 20, 2005 and August 8, 1878.

"A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for most of the state with humidity levels in the 8-12% range this afternoon and wind gusts of 30-35 mph in the higher elevations," says meteorologist Jennifer Broome says.

"High-based are possible this afternoon and evening over the mountains. These don't have much rain but do have gusty winds and lightning."

Wednesday looks like we might stay under 100 degrees with a high of 97 degrees. Temps look like they'll be in the mid 90s during the weekend.
