Cardinals' Matt Holliday inactive for World Series Game 7

ST. LOUIS -- Matt Holliday suffered a sprained wrist in Game 6 of the World Series and will not be on the active roster for Game 7. This means Allen Craig will likely get the start in left field for the Cardinals.

Craig is hitting .267 for the World Series, with two homers, including one in Game 6. Manager Tony La Russa also has flexibility with Skip Schumaker, who can play both the infield and outfield.

SERIES:  7 questions for Game 7

Holliday has struggled since a September hand injury. He hit .158 in the World Series (3-for-19) with one extra-base hit.

The Cardinals announced he left Game 6 with a badly bruised pinky finger that required x-rays. Both the finger and wrist were apparently injured on a headfirst dive back to third base in the sixth inning -- a play on which he was picked off by Texas catcher Mike Napoli and stepped on by third baseman Adrian Beltre.

St. Louis has activated rookie outfielder Adron Chambers for tonight's game. Chambers, 25, has appeared in 10 games during the postseason, going 1-for-5, but he gives the Cardinals a speed option off the bench.
