Award-winning producer Jon Blair joins Aljazeera

DOHA: Aljazeera English has announced that multi award- winning film and television producer Jon Blair has joined its ranks as it sharply increases its output of original factual programming.

Aljazeera English's Director of Programmes Paul Eedle said, "We're delighted to have a programme maker on board with such top class credentials. We're continuing to increase our output of important factual television programmes, and Jon's many years of experience are going to be invaluable for that."

Blair has been a recipient of an Oscar, two Emmys, a British Academy Award, and an International Documentary Association Distinguished Achievement Award (among others). His work has included such films as 'Anne Frank Remembered,' 'Dancing with the Devil,' 'The Age of Terror' and 'Schindler,' the last of which was used as a research resource for Steven Spielberg's Hollywood epic.

He was also the co-founder and co-creater of the iconic satirical series, 'Spitting Image,' where he served as Producer and Executive Producer until 1987.

"Aljazeera is committed to making quality factual television and telling stories of global importance. That's why I'm here. The breadth of the ambitious projects I'm already involved in is why I was excited to take on this role - a landmark investigative series on 21st Century Slavery, an massive history of the Arab people over the last three centuries, and the diverse documentaries in our Correspondent series, to name just a few," said Jon Blair.

Blair has been working with Aljazeera part-time since last November, but has now joined full-time as executive producer of all its major series and specials.
